Rectal bleed clinic

Blood passed from the anus during or after visiting the toilet is known as rectal bleeding and can be distressing and alarming. It usually indicates bleeding from the lower bowel, called the colon and rectum, or from the anus. It can be caused by a variety of conditions. Although in many cases it is not serious, it can be a sign of a more serious condition. We offer a rapid access service consisting of initial consultation followed by colonoscopy / flexible sigmoidoscopy and treatment as appropriate.
