Bowel habit variation

Everybody’s bowels are different and what is ‘normal’ for one person may be very different for someone else. Variations in how often one goes to the toilet and stool consistency, diarrhoea or constipation, can occur for a variety of reasons and in most cases settle quickly back to their normal routine. However persistent changes in how our bowels work can be a sign of disease in the bowel and usually requires specialised investigation. We offer a rapid access service consisting of initial consultation and blood tests, followed by further investigation, usually colonoscopy or CT colonography if required.
