Anaemia Investigation

Anaemia (low blood haemoglobin level) can be caused by a wide variety of conditions. Patients are often unaware until it is picked up on a routine blood test. In severe cases patients may complain of tiredness, lethargy or breathlessness. A potentially serious cause of iron deficiency anaemia is bleeding from the bowel which often occurs unnoticed. We offer a rapid access service consisting of initial consultation and blood tests followed by gastroscopy and colonoscopy examination of the bowel. Further treatment will depend on the outcome of these tests.
